Vilnius to Host World Forum for Direct
Investment for First Time
On 10-11 June 2009, Vilnius will host THE
WORLD FORUM for Direct Investment 2009.
The forum, the first of its kind and
scale in Lithuania, is hosted by the Lithuanian Development
Agency (LDA) in association with Red Hot Locations, a
company engaged in producing foreign direct investment
events.
Red Hot Locations had negotiated the
possibility of hosting this event with several countries.
Lithuania has been chosen as a country representing the 'New
Europe' region and this region's potential for growth.
Vilnius, European Capital of Culture 2009, is a perfect
place for such a forum, which is designed to promote foreign
direct investment in a specific geographical region and
specific economic sectors as well as improve the country's
international image," Laura Guobuzaite, Acting Director
General, Lithuanian Development Agency, has said.
The forum will be attended by some 200 top-level experts
working in the area of foreign investment, heads of
international companies, members of chambers and
associations of commerce of foreign cities, regions and
countries, representatives of real estate development
companies, law and consulting firms. Foreign direct
investment decision-makers from all over the world are
scheduled to discuss factors determining investors' choice
as well as competition among countries to attract skilled
and inventive labour.
The event will be held in Lithuania
within the framework of Investment Promotion Programme
2008-2013 approved by the Government of the Republic of
Lithuania. In recent years, such forums were held in
Amsterdam, Brussels, Bologna and Valencia. This year, it was
hosted by London.
More information on the event is
