Progress on the Rule of Law
July 24-28, 2006 Conference
Vilnius, Lithuania
Dear Colleagues,
LABAS, together the Elon Center for Public Affairs at Elon University
in North Carolina, USA and the Lithuanian Lawyers Association (Lietuvos
teisininku draugija, or LTD), will present a legal professionals
conference preliminarily entitled "Lithuania's Progress On The Rule
of Law" to take place July 24-28, 2006 in Vilnius, Lithuania.
There will be presentations from the Lithuanian point of view on
Lithuania's institutional changes in the rule of law, including in its
legislative, judicial and political systems, as well as Lithuania's future
needs in these areas. Conference updates will follow to those who
register, and will be posted on our website. We urge you to register
as soon as possible so that we can plan appropriately.
Space allowing, the first two full days of the conference (July 25 and
26) will be held in the City
Park Hotel , which will also serve as headquarters for our programs
that week. LABAS has reserved 12 rooms that will available for the first
12 fully prepaid registrants.
Costs. Conference registration is $200 per person and will
include meeting materials, translation services, and lunch on the first
two days. $150 of the registration fee is non-refundable to help
will defray costs for the conference.We are considerin a per diem rate for
non-attorney friends and family who also wish to attend the formal
programs
In addition to registering for this conference, we urge you to also
become a member, by completing the 2006 membership application on our
membership page. Adding your name to our list of members in good
standing for 2006 means a lot to us. Your dues payment will identify you
as a supporter of our efforts, whether or not you are able to actively
participate in LABAS meetings and programs. Membership also entitles
you to a listing, if you consent, in our on-line membership directory with
a short biography and your areas of practice.
