Credit cards & ATMs
The use of credit cards particularly VISA and MASTERCARD is widespread in the whole country. In addition to obtaining cash advances at banks, they can also be used in many ATM's. These are sometimes located within banks, post offices or shops, but many are on the street, offering another 24-hour banking facility. Most establishments (hotels, restaurants and stores) accept credit cards.
AMERICAN EXPRESS and THOMAS COOK are exchangeable at most banks but not to be used for direct tender at restaurants and shops.
